Well, that's it. I've won the XF original character tournament. You know I almost didn't enter this when it started. I had just lost the Rumble in the Summer Tournament, and before that, niicht's OCBC. My audition was litterally thrown together at the last minute. I first considered using Sebastian again but decided on giving another character a try. I considered using David (my monster guy) but he seemed too similar to ~ZeroShift's Santiago in some ways. I finally settled on an old character of mine named Randall who needed some more developing. By the end of round 1 I'd roughly filled in some gaps in his story, and in some ways he introduced himself to me just as much as he did you guys. As time went on he began to essentially write his own material, which I feel is a sign he was becoming more solid of a character.

As things progressed it was almost eerie about how some of the elements in the tournament began to fit (and parallel) with Randy's storyline, from meeting EXE, to finally battling Gorger. Everything just seemed to fall into place storywise, and was better than anything I could have ever hoped(or planned) for.

Out of the character battle tournament I've been in I'd have to say that the XF-OCT was my favorite. Everyone drew fanart for everyone, various people worked on sidestories and fanfiction, former entrants contributed material. It really seemed more like a community effort.

As for me, I've never won anything like this in my life before. From the outset the group consensus for who the finalists (and winners) could be basically included EXE, Talon, Beethoven, Nicolas, and Gorger. A couple of them had to drop out, (and I wonder about how different the tournament would be if they hadn't), another I surprisingly ended up toppling with a veritable landslide vote.

At the risk of sounding Emo, so many aspects of my life seem like not a glass ceiling, but a brick wall...one that I'm just repeatedly beating my head against.
...But for now, now matter how small it may ultimately be in the end, I've found a place in the sun. -and it's nice here.
